Create a backup solution for Cloud Sites
Build a backup solution for Cloud Sites that will allow us to back up per domain to either Cloud Files or S3.
1,262 votesSites users, as an interim step toward a more comprehensive backup solution, we recommend using the zipit backup solution. http://www.zipitbackup.com
This is an effective feature that allows customers to zip and backup their site contents to Cloud Files on a site by site basis. Thanks again for being a Cloud Sites customer. -
The ability to choose amount of RAM and HD space seperately.
For many of my servers, I only need a few gigs of HD space, but much more memory. We should be able to choose HD and RAM separately.

Multiple Control Panel Users Per Account
It would be nice if you could delegate/manage/authorize multiple users in the control panel... like Slicehost.
The idea of one admin user / account sucks. There's no way to collaborate without sharing your admin credentials...
818 votesFor our US API customers – multiple users for an account is now available! UK API customers, this will be coming soon.
We will continue to work to get this functionality into Control Panel and provide fine-grained-access control.
API guide is available at: http://docs.rackspace.com/auth/api/v2.0/auth-client-devguide/content/QuickStart-000.html

Need option to suspend servers to save money
With EC2, I can make have a virtual machine that I only turn on when I need it. I only pay for disk space, and don't have to pay operating costs when it's off. EC2 is the only cloud provider with this feature, which is very useful for me.
806 votesThanks to everyone for their feedback on this feature request, and my apologies for our delay in posting an update. I am moving this feature to our Next Gen Cloud Servers category, as suspend is a feature that we plan to offer with that product versus our First Gen Cloud Servers. To address the request for being able to suspend a Cloud Server instance, we plan to roll out a multi-phased solution. The first phase will introduce reserved IPs, which will allow you to snapshot an instance to Cloud Files, reserve the IPs, and terminate the instance. Once you are ready to begin using the instance again, you’ll be able to provision it with the same IPs and data as the original instance. The second phase will introduce additional performance enhancements to optimize for server build times, which when combined with reserved IPs, will give you faster restore times when…

Thank you for everyone’s feedback on the CDN origin pull feature. I’ve combined several requests which all follow a common theme – being able to leverage the CDN that we expose as part of our Cloud Files offering with your own content origins (whether they be hosted on a Cloud Server, a Dedicated server, or even outside of Rackspace). We know this capability differs somewhat from our current Cloud Files CDN offering, but the benefits of easy setup and utility billing that you have access to with Cloud Files plus CDN today would be compelling with an origin pull CDN capability as well. We are currently exploring our ability to offer this feature with our CDN provider and Engineering teams, and will provide another update as soon as one is available.

"Small business tier service for Cloud sites"
Offer a smaller Sites service - same managed service but less resources.
We are feeling the downturn and only use a small % of Sites resources. Being asked to cut budgets and maybe move server468 votes -
create a cloud site API
Its very frustrating if you live outside of the US and dont want to use Rackspace for billing (in US$) for cloud sites. It seems so simple to release an API for provisioning and data collection. I have asked for over a year now, and its always next quarter, next quarter. When is this coming because until cloud sites can integrate with 3rd party billing software its as useful as a one string guitar.

Secure VPN internal IPs
While the internal IPs are nice, they are still open to the rest of the rackspace world, right?
Having a secure VPN interface that is accessible only to the other machines in the rackspace account would be awesome.
380 votesCloud Networks isn’t technically a VPN, but it does allow users to create an isolated network between their servers. We are adding this capability for all users of the Next Gen Cloud.

Bring back a file manager! FTP is no good for large sites with many files
We miss file manager a lot. If you are doing a lot of deployments you need ability to upload a zip then extract it. The current recommended cron method is not at all practical. Please bring some sort of file manager back or find us a decent zip extractor scrip that can scan a folder.

Sync between Webmail Calendar & other Cal platforms
Provide implementation of various types of calendar software (iCal, Google Calendar, etc) that works with the RackSpace calendar. This would also support the use of immediate two-way sync between. Also include a mobile version that is accessible on Droid, iPhone, and BlackBerry...
(From another, similar post)
Provide CalDAV access to calendars: This is the most portable and future-proof way to support access to calendars. This instantly satisfies the need for Mac and Thunderbird + Lightning.298 votes -
Implement git-push for deploying cloud sites
I would like to show my interest for a git-push feature for rackspace. Deploying a site with FTP, even a simple Wordpress, is tedious at best. We have more powerful hosting for our bigger web-apps, but Rackspace Cloud is great for all those little sites. All of our developers are using git(hub), and being able to deploy our smaller client sites with git would be a huge bonus.
There has been a lot of movement in this space for the ruby and node.js party (heroku.com and no.de from joyent, but nobody has brought the ease of git-push to commodity php…

configurable IP addresses
I would love to see it posible to configure/administrate IP address, such that the IP address can be reused on upgraded (virtual) servers. A feature similar to AWS "Elastic IP address" (http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/#features) is what I am looking for.

Ability to move servers from account to account.
Using the Rackspace suggested method of building new servers and using rsync to copy over data from existing servers - in our case complex application and database configurations and data - would be slow and possibly prone to error. If a server could be moved to another account - let's say a new customer for Rackspace account - then all that would be necessary would be for said new customer to update his DNS and he is ready to go live.

Make cloud server back-ups transferable to other accounts
I want to be able to take a cloud server back-up and move it to another account and create a server off of it

Let accounts have more than 1 API key
Right now, an account only has 1 API key. So that key can be available to devs putting content via scripts. However, we want a separate key for our Cloud File Backups so only our network people can have access to that particular segment.
199 votesThanks for your feedback!
The Identity API today supports multiple users for an account (each with their own password credentials that can be used to get a token for the APIs). See http://docs.rackspace.com/auth/api/v2.0/auth-client-devguide/content/QuickStart-000.html.
We are planning to enable sub-user access and management in the control panel and providing role-based access control.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions!

Add "Cloud Files usage per bucket"
Please add the option to view cloud files bandwidth usage per bucket. This way we can have seperate clients in seperate buckets and work who is using what bandwidth (and charge accordingly).
198 votesThanks for the votes, we’ll take this into consideration!

Add API method to get Bandwidth / Disk Space Usage per Server
If I'm going to sell a cloud server based solution, I need to bill customers back if they use a lot of disk space or bandwidth. Otherwise they might use my application for an unintended purpose (i.e. host ****... who knows).

Please provide 2-factor access for the management console
My Gmail, Facebook, and bank accounts already have an ability to offer a 2 step authentication process by requiring I enter a confirmation number that's sent to my phone.
A feature like this would go a long way to compartmentalizing our security in case, say, our email server was rooted.
156 votesWe have started work on incorporating 2-factor access into our APIs and management console. Thank you for your feedback, and I will update this forum when a timeline is more concrete.
Thank you,
