Dear Rackspace, I understand the detailed technical barriers that proposes a challenge to getting this done. Rather than criticize you like most would naturally do out of frustration, keep in mind that you guys are seen as one of the forefront leaders in the hosting community. I urge you to find a solution to this. While I understand there are many pressing matters, this is simply a staple in web design and needs to be addressed. We put a man on the moon and rovers on mars... surely we can overcome this issue.

        PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS

Just this week, I had to tell another client - who has had his site hosted on Rackspace Cloud Sites since they were Mosso!! - that he couldn't use the wildcard SSL certs he wanted to use to save money. I'm sure they're evaluating other hosting options now...

Could we see some response to this request? This feature was started a year ago. Is this going to be implemented soon?

Wildcard Certs work just fine with Cloud Sites. You used to be able to add them through the Control Panel. Now they prevent them at the Control Panel but the Wildcard SSL certificates that I set up previously still work just fine. I just won't be able to renew them because of the control panel...

A further comment - I understand that there may be technical issues with wildcard certs that don't work under the current architecture of the Cloud Sites. I for one would be willing to pay a little extra and have to migrate a cloud site that requires wildcard certs to a separate cluster that supported wildcard certs if necessary.

I fully agree - I came over to RackSpace thinking I will have enterprise level support and features and we cannot even have EV certs and now wildcard SSL certs. Like you said Jim, we cannot be buying SSL certs for each domain.

It's discouraging to have to tell clients they need to buy a bunch of separate certificates or host somewhere else to protect multiple subdomains. This enhancement request has been "on the board" since 2007!!
