Make cloud server back-ups transferable to other accounts
I want to be able to take a cloud server back-up and move it to another account and create a server off of it

This would be a valuable feature. We are a web dev agency and we have created a "starter server" that we have saved as an image in out account. We refer clients to RS Cloud, and then we have to duplicate all of the work in setting up their first server instance. It would be much better if we could build their server from the starter image in our account. Or clone our image to their account.
Thinking of moving to EC2 and this is one of the reasons...
There's a comment on http://feedback.rackspace.com/forums/71021-product-feedback/suggestions/981075-ability-to-move-servers-from-account-to-account- that suggests this was planned in 2011....

Ive been asking for this for years now. I have a few really good templates, but they are impossible to use across accounts. We should be able to provision images... I know one problem they have is the network settings. Your OS is configured by their scripts with your network settings, so images contain data other then just the data. So when you restore an image on another account this has the old accounts network settings, this is the technical challange in some kind of wizard as it would have to fiddle with the network settings and they probably dont want to take responsiblity for fiddling with live sites. Maybe a USE at your own risk tool best shot or something

but really it should be as simple as copying another Cloud File image from another account...
This probably just isnt on the priority list since it can be done if you really try
We run into this all the time as our clients are becoming more and more savvy with cloud hosting. We'll set up a cloud server under our account and a few months down the road they will set up a cloud account and want to transfer it over. We end up having to rebuild the server and migrating data. Being able to just export/import an image from account to account would be a thing of beauty.

You can migrate between the US and UK (manually, via asking the RS support), but not between two US sites (ORD and DFW)... Would be very useful to be able to share images between accounts, download/upload or export/import. We would then be happy to open several accounts on different data centers and still be able to (re)use images between them.
There are no question. Rackspace have to include this feature. Also to upload and install new image.
It's not really the best solution to the problem, however the RS support team suggested me to look at http://www.rackspace.com/knowledge_center/index.php/US_to_UK_Migration_FAQ

Just adding to the chorus. This is a must have for managing clients. Server setup is a significant labor cost. The ability to export images and import them into new accounts greatly eliminates potential for configuration missteps and reduces my contract bids. That translates into more work for me and more accounts for Rackspace.

This would also let me provision customer servers and then hand them off to their accounts to manage.
Please make this available.

It would be great functionality to provide the service. I love the idea.

This would make Rackspace more competitive with Amazon EC2 where you have tons of ready-to-use images to start with. This would save so much time when setting up a new server in a new account.
